It seems Harvard or and MIT tried to replicate the crop circles as a way to demonstrate that the Crop Circles were pranks played by some prankster but still with their all modern equipment, the team investigating could not finish it in the permissible time of the night, and let alone the number of MIT personnel involved as a team, which makes it difficult for a secret to be hidden for too long.
